Purchasing Specialist I

The Purchasing Specialist supports the entire agency through administering the coordination, development, preparation and approval of quoting and bidding documents pertaining to public water supply for acquisition of materials and services such as information technology supplies, furniture, laboratory supplies, and janitorial services, roofing and painting.  In addition, the Purchasing Specialist’s duties include entering purchase requisitions and converting approved requisition to purchase orders.  The position requires knowledge of State of Florida quoting and bidding laws and regulations.  Candidates must have exceptional administrative and organizational skills to maintain project schedules and agency and department priorities. They must be able to communicate comfortably with internal colleagues at all levels of the organization. They must also communicate professionally and clearly with external suppliers in a public forum, and via phone or electronic means. Performance is monitored through periodic conferences, reports and administrative review process.
