This is skilled work designing electric and gas distribution facilities improvements to meet new construction, system renewal and maintenance requirements. NATURE OF WORK
This is skilled work designing electric and gas distribution facilities improvements to meet new construction, system renewal and maintenance requirements.
CLASSIFICATION STANDARDS
Positions allocated to this classification report to designated supervisor and work under limited supervision. Work in this class is distinguished from higher classes of work by limited supervisory responsibilities and from lower classes by its emphasis on considerable competency in the design of complex electric and gas distribution facilities.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Designs and prepares work orders of considerable complexity for electric and gas distribution facilities, including but not limited to distribution facilities in conjunction with FDOT roadway projects and overhead and underground power line extensions.
Prepares Railroad, City, County and State permit documents as part of the work order process.
Performs emergency damage assessment of facilities and directs other personnel during emergency assessment operations and performs other emergency duties as assigned.
Inspects distribution equipment, assesses condition and recommends improvements.
Meets and coordinates with contractors, developers and other external customers during the execution of prepared work orders.
Monitors construction work in progress and coordinates with construction personnel until construction is complete.
Verifies and corrects construction as-built drawings
Insures correct posting of facilities information in the Geographic Information System.
Prepares complex billing documents in accordance with City ordinances and policies.
Interprets and applies codes including the NEC and NESC and other applicable codes and ordinances including rules, regulations and guidelines established by various regulatory agencies.
Participates in the Energy Delivery Facilities Specialist must-progress Progression-Through-Training Program.
Required to respond in emergencies and work extended hours.
Attends work on a continuous and regular basis.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma supplemented by mathematics and relevant technical courses; completion of the Progression Through Training Program for the Energy Delivery Facilities Specialist I; and a minimum of thirty months (30) months electrical and gas utility design experience; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Valid Florida Driver’s License required at time of appointment.
